Introduction
ATP, or Adenosine Triphosphate, is often referred to as the "currency of energy" within our bodies. It powers every cell, fuels every movement, and is crucial for every metabolic process that keeps us alive and active.
But what if there was a way to naturally boost your body's ATP production and support your performance? Enter elevATP®, an innovative ingredient featured in our brand-new products, Pre-Workout Elite, Pre-Workout Elite Stimulant-Free and Hydration Elite.
What is elevATP®?
elevATP® is a natural combination of ancient pear and apple polyphenols. This natural compound is designed to elevate your body's endogenous ATP levels.
The name of this patented ingredient is self-explanatory: it elevates ATP levels.
How do increased ATP levels translate to increased performance and results?
What Are The Benefits of elevATP®?
If you think about ATP as the currency of energy, then the ability to replenish it means that when you train, you’ll be able to push just a bit longer.
Improved ATP production could lead to an extra rep, 5 extra pounds on the bar, or sprinting at your top speed for just a second longer.
In turn, this can lead to increased strength, more muscle, or increased power.
Research has shown that elevATP provides the following benefits in conjunction with resistance training:
Support increased lean muscle and strength*
Promote increased power output and training volume*
Help reduce performance decreases*
Help improve body composition*
For example, this 2016 study looked at 25 healthy, resistance-trained men, and compared 150mg of elevATP® (the exact dose in our products) to a placebo. The men who took elevATP® saw increases in vertical jump, max squat, and max deadlifts. This led the researchers to conclude that “supplementing with ancient peat and apple extract while participating in periodized resistance training may enhance performance adaptations.”
To understand how it does this, let’s talk about the mechanism.
How elevATP® Works
You may remember from high school biology ATP, glycolysis, and the Krebs cycle. In glycolysis, our bodies produce ATP without the support of oxygen. This is what we use during max-effort, anaerobic activities like sprinting and during an all-out set. The body uses the Krebs cycle to produce ATP with oxygen. This is what powers aerobic movements.
During a resistance training session, you’re using a combination of aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. The key is that ATP fuels both of these. Without sufficient ATP, we don’t have the energy to perform any exercise, whether that’s a set of squats or a sprint on the track.
elevATP® works by helping increase the body’s ATP production. Given ATP’s importance, you may think you can just supplement with ATP. However, supplementation with exogenous ATP hasn’t panned out, because much of it breaks down in the gut.
elevATP® rather, helps the body increase its own ATP production. This is called “endogenous ATP production.”
Comparing elevATP® with Other Ingredients
In simple terms, you may think of elevATP® as an ingredient that supports the energy you have to power through your training.
However, the mechanism for which it works is different from other ingredients. In the realm of performance nutrition, a multi-faceted approach often yields the best results. Pre-Workout Elite and Hydration Elite feature a synergistic blend of ingredients, each contributing to your athletic performance in unique ways.
Here let’s look at two ingredients that may seem to be similar to elevATP®, by work through completely different mechanisms.
elevATP® vs Caffeine
Caffeine works by blocking adenosine receptors in the brain, which leads to increased alertness and reduced perception of fatigue.* While both may support performance, they do so through a different mechanism.
elevATP® vs Creatine
Creatine supplementation increases phosphocreatine levels in your muscles.* Phosphocreatine is a form of stored energy in the cells that helps to regenerate ATP, the main source of energy in our body.
By increasing your phosphocreatine stores through creatine supplementation, you can produce more ATP during high-intensity exercise, leading to improved performance, strength, and between-set recovery.*
Creatine is stored in muscles and converted into creatine phosphate, which helps regenerate ATP during high-intensity, short-duration activities.
Although through different mechanisms, both creatine and elevATP® help increase the body’s ATP production over a longer period. This makes it a great combination ideal for workouts that involve both strength and endurance components.
In Pre-Workout Elite, we included 5g of creatine along with 150mg of elevATP®.
How and When to Take elevATP®
Many studies used a dose of 150mg. This is the dose we include in both Hydration Elite and Pre-Workout Elite.
SHOP PRE-WORKOUT ELITE
Pre-Workout: Pre-Workout Elite
To prepare your body for the physical demands of an intense workout, we recommend taking Pre-Workout Elite before about 30 minutes before training. This product includes 150mg of elevATP® along with 20 other ingredients.
It also comes in a stimulant-free version.
Once you try Pre-Workout Elite, we’re confident your training will never be the same.
During Workout: Hydration Elite
While it's essential to start strong, maintaining your performance throughout your workout is equally important. That's where Hydration Elite comes into play. Designed to help replenish electrolytes during training, it also contains elevATP® to support performance.*
Do I Need to Take elevATP® Consistently to Get Results?
Many studies on elevATP® looked at the results over the course of several weeks. Several looked at the effects after a 12-week resistance training program.
For example, this study saw an improved body composition in the elevATP® group after a 12-week program.
If your goal is to improve your body composition, strength, or power, then consistency in your training is key to get results.
